Kamala Harris to Face Black Journalists in 2024 Race

Black voters will be extremely important in the 2024 presidential election, as demonstrated by Harris’ interactions with Black journalists.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris

United States: Black journalists will get an opportunity to grill U. S. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on her agenda on Tuesday.

Harris will attend a Philadelphia event by the National Association of Black Journalists after the VP of the United States refused to attend the NAJP meeting that took place in Chicago this summer, as reported by Reuters.

Trump’s Controversial Remarks and Harris’ Follow-Up Event

Donald Trump, her rival from the Republican side, was also present there in a July event in which he made comments that all the black, Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris is not really black besides, interrogating one of the moderators in a way that a lot of people viewed as aggressive for pursuing a line of questioning that Trump deemed unfair to him.

Harris had stated her readiness to participate in another event that the group organized after what her team said was a misunderstanding on the dates of the convention, which occurred just over a week after U. S. President Joe Biden pulled out of the presidential race.

Panel of Journalists to Interview Harris

The interview will also be conducted by three people from the organization, as it was with Trump, and in this case, the reporters from TheGrio and Politico, together with the WHYY-FM, who is a public radio anchor.

A Crucial Democratic Base in 2024

Despite this, Harris and Trump have tried to court the Black vote head for the tight November 2024 election. Some electoral forecasters consider this state as one of the few battleground states that determine the presidency.

Harris continues to maintain that she will not be providing details on some policy areas that must concern Black voters; some topics are education, the economy, and criminal justice, as reported by Reuters.

Black voters are also a consistent and core Democratic base, thus backing Biden 92%, defeating Trump’s 8% in 2020, as per Pew Research Center.
