United States – On Thursday, Kamala Harris, the vice-president of America, said that Joe Biden’s decision to exit the race for the 2024 presidency this summer was among the most brave any president can make.
A Historic Moment
“President Biden made a decision that I think history will show was probably one of the most courageous that a president could make, which is he decided to put country above his personal interest,” Harris said during the Univision sponsored event in Las Vegas, as cited by the press pool. She did not hesitate, and it was incredible; her remarks were translated into Spanish on television every now and then, as reported by Reuters.
“I believe that the stakes right now are extraordinarily high, and potentially, some might say, historians have said unprecedented.”
The Democratic presidential nominee uttered the statements in a debate session during the campaign when engaging with an audience member who claimed he wanted to vote for Trump but was concerned with how Biden bowed out. The voter was extremely interested in the provisions of the constitution, which led to Harris becoming the nominee without being competitive.
Biden’s Endorsement and Trump’s Contrasting Approach
Biden suspended his campaign for re-election on July 21, 1987, after suffering for weeks from intense pressure from elected officials and the Democratic Party donors over his physical fitness and age. Biden endorsed her without delay, and Harris was able to nail down enough Democratic delegates for the vice-presidential candidacy.
Harris on Biden’s Legacy
Harris stated on ABC News ‘The View’ program on Tuesday that she would not alter anything about Biden as president. The comment was edited by Donald Trump’s campaign, which seeks to portray the Republican former president as the 2024 candidate for change.
Harris said that Biden, who is not doing rallies constantly to campaign for her, has been a strong ally and supporter of her campaign, while Trump’s decision to leave early was different from Biden, who he failed to acknowledge as the rightful President of the United States despite the election results, as reported by Reuters.
“We are literally having a choice as the American people about choosing a path either that is about the rule of law, democracy or something that is about admiring dictators,” she said, according to the pool reporters.
