United States: Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is to visit the battleground of Georgia on Thursday for a rally that will feature Bruce Springsteen, Tyler Perry, and former President Barack Obama.
It is the most recent of several such events organized by the Harris campaign to mobilize voters with endorsements from Hollywood actors and musicians to cast their votes in the last days of a volatile electoral contest with Trump, the Republican candidate, as reported by Reuters.
Obama and Harris Join Forces for the First Time
It will also be the first time that Harris and Obama will campaign together for the elections. Harris is also joining Michelle Obama in campaigning in Michigan this Saturday out of the seven swing states that are thought to determine the winner on November 5th.
Celebrity endorsers endorse candidates and increase their cultural appeal. They have assisted the campaigns to fundraise, mobilize crowds for rallies, and create hype on social media platforms. Both the Harris and Trump campaigns fall under the last-minute scramble to get out the vote before the election on November 5.
New polls reveal that Trump is leading in Georgia. However, Harris’s campaign officials argue that the two states, including Georgia and North Carolina, are still open for a bid in November.
The secretary of state office reports that one million, nine hundred thousand residents have already voted in the state of Georgia.
Springsteen and Obama Set to Energize Voters
On Monday, Springsteen, 75, will also perform alongside Obama in Philadelphia, and more concerts involving other singers are expected to be launched by the Harris camp in the near future.
The same year, he performed a three-song set at a rally attended by 20,000 voters in the Independence Hall for Democrat Hillary Clinton’s campaign before the election. In July 2008, Springsteen entertained tens of thousands on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with a seven-song performance with the audience doing the sign of the swing to energize people to register to vote for Obama.
Celebrity Support Boosts Campaigns
Taylor Swift, Pink, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Lizzo, and many more stars have supported Harris and her running mate Tim Walz. The post that artist where Harris was endorsed by Swift through Instagram this September has managed to gain more than 11 million likes, as reported by Reuters.
For its part, former President Trump also has celebrity names supporting him.
Trump’s Celebrity Backers
Artists who have supported Trump include musicians Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, WWE wrestler Hulk Hogan, who was a key speaker at the Republican National Convention in July, UFC President Dana White, actor Dennis Quaid, and TV personality Amber Rose.
