United States – Kamala Harris’ U.S. presidential election campaign collected $55 mln during two events on the weekend, a campaign manager stated on Sunday.
San Francisco Event
Its supporting candidate, who is a Democratic and the U.S. vice president raised $27 million dollars during a fundraising event at Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Saturday in a ceremony that featured speech from, among others, Nancy Pelosi, ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives as well as performance by ‘Rise Up’ singer Andra Day stated the official who requested anonymity to disclose private information, as reported by Reuters.
Los Angeles Event
Harris then expensed $28 million for entertainment in downtown Los Angeles with Alanis Morissette and Halle Bailey. Other celebrities who graced the event included Keegan Michael Key, Sterling K Brown, Demi Lovato, Jessica Alba, Lily Tomlin, and Stevie Wonder.
Election is “Life and Death”
During these events, Harris focused on the coverage of her economic plans, defining herself as a millionaire and presenting the topic of the upcoming election as life and death. To the contributors, she said she would triumph but at the same time, she said that she was the one who was behind in the campaign, with only a few weeks remaining.
Cash Lead Over Trump
Harris also noted that this campaign, as well as the Democratic Party, collected $361 million in August, which means that Harris’s cash advantage remains over that of rival Donald Trump, who collected $130 million in August together with the Republican Party, as reported by Reuters.
The two candidates were nearly tied in the polls a month before the November 5 presidential election. A Reuters poll conducted earlier this month identified Harris ahead of Trump, 47% to 40%, while other polls indicated a closer race.
